New York’s Rules to Protect Students with Disabilities

In the wake of special education student Avonte Oquendo’s disappearance from a New York City Public School on October 4th, the New York City Department of Education has published a summary of their “Health and Safety Precautions for Students with Disabilities.”

The post reiterates existing health and safety rules, provides information on school building safety plans, and contains a promise to identify schools and areas where existing procedures need to be improved or better enforced.
