WHAT: Challenging behaviors are a common issue faced by children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This workshop will provide families with an overview of proven strategies designed to address these behaviors, with a particular focus on how to understand, replace, and manage challenging behaviors in children with ASDs.

An assistant professor in the Exceptional Education Department of the College’s School of Education, Dr. Cale directs Old Westbury’s Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, one of six university-affiliated pro-grams across the state that seeks to build capacity to improve services and outcomes for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Her research focuses on expanding Functional Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support, which are approaches that provide pro-social alternatives to dealing with challenging behaviors in individuals with disabilities.
