Upcoming MAC Workshop

Inclusion in the Museum Workplace
for Teenagers and Adults on the Autism Spectrum

Wednesday, October 23, 2013
4pm–6pm

Description:
This session will explore how cultural institutions can provide life skills, job training, or employment opportunities for teenagers and adults on the autism spectrum. As part of a panel discussion, workshop participants will hear specific examples of people on the autism spectrum who have interned, worked, or volunteered in cultural institutions throughout the New York Metro area and learn about practical steps cultural institutions can take to establish partnerships with social service providers to implement successful career and life skills programs. We welcome representatives from cultural institutions and from the disability field to join us for this free professional development workshop.

Speakers will include Dr. Lisa Pollich from CUNY’s Project REACH, representatives from service providers Job Path and Birch Family Services, and an introduction from Charli Devnet, Author and Tour Guide from the Kykuit Estate as they share their experience and expertise.
