September 28, 2018 (Friday), from 9:30 AM until 12:00 PM

Advancing the Special Education Rights of Students with Disabilities after the Supreme Court’s Recent History Making Decision in Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District

FHF is proud to host the attorneys from the Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law and Disability Rights Advocates to present on this topic (described below)!

The Elizabeth Connelly Center Building 41 A
930 Willowbrook Road
Staten Island, NY 10314

Please join attorneys from the Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law and Disability Rights Advocates on September 28th at 9:30 am at The Elizabeth Connelly Center Building 41 A, to discuss the Supreme Court’s March 2017 decision in Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District. This important decision announced a new and more demanding standard for educating students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and this workshop will examine how that affects the related services and other supports that students with disabilities, including behavior-related disabilities, are entitled to in order receive the meaningful educational opportunity required by the IDEA In doing so, the workshop will explore the legal requirements for the Free and Appropriate Public Education (“FAPE”) that the IDEA requires schools to provide students with disabilities, and how that standard has changed and is evolving post-Endrew.
Finally, the presenters, (listed below) want to talk to you about your experience with special education in New York City Community Schools AND in District 75. We hope you’ll join us!

This event is free of charge.
