New York State Education Graduation and Career Plan Webinars

 
 

The New York State Education Department, P-12:  Office of Special Education is pleased to announce that a series of six webinar modules on the New York State (NYS) Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Commencement Credential is available at http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/gradrequire.html

The modules are as follows:

  • Module 1: Overview;
  • Module 2:Career Plan and CareerZone;
  • Module 3: CDOS Learning Standards;
  • Module 4: Career and Technical Education Coursework and Work-based Learning
  • Module 5: Employability Profile; and
  • Module 6: National Work Readiness Credentials.

Each module provides information on a specific topic related to the credential.  Questions and answers are also posted on the P-12: Office of Special Education website as noted.  You are encouraged to check the site often for new information.

The NYS CDOS Commencement Credential is an important new exiting credential for students with disabilities recognized by the NYS Board of Regents as a certificate that the student has the knowledge and skills necessary for entry level employment.  For additional information, please refer to the June 2013 special education field advisory at http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/publications/CDOScredential-memo-613.htm

The field advisory includes regulatory requirements, a model career plan and a model employability profile.

The Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Centers (RSE-TASC) provide regional trainings on the NYS CDOS Commencement Credential.  Contact information for RSE-TASC is available at http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/techassist/rsetasc/locations.htm
